      <description>Last night ushered in November and it was time to spice things up. While at Whole Foods I had a craving for a raisin loaf. I pulled out my iPhone, opened the epicurious.com app and got to searching.

I did several searches for raisins in dessert, raisin loaf and raisin bread and eventually found the Honey Spice Cake recipe I ended up going with.

The cup of raisins it called for was complemented by about 1/4 cup chopped crystallized Ginger&amp;#8230; I love that stuff.

      <title>Summer? Time for baking!</title>

      <description>Last week brought two main baking experiences.

Even in the heat of summer, homemade bean soup still has a soft spot in my heart. My grandpa used to make it by soaking the pinto beans overnight, then simmering them all day with ham hocks, onions and plenty of salt in a large stainless steel pan.

A much quicker option is to do a quick soak on the beans (bring to boil for two minutes, cool one hour in a large pot) then toss them in a crock pot with the accompaniments and simmer for 4 hours...</description>
